BABL AI is an independent AI audit and assurance firm. We were built for one purpose: to give organizations and the people affected by their AI, credible and independent evidence that a system does what it claims. Founded in 2018, we hold ourselves to the professional standards of the assurance world, and to a mission larger than any single engagement: that AI is developed, deployed, and governed in ways that prioritize human flourishing.
Why we exist
When BABL AI started in 2018, “AI auditing” was barely a phrase. Organizations were already deploying systems that made consequential decisions about people, and there was no independent way to check whether those systems did what their developers or deployers said.
We set out to change that. Not as critics, and not as consultants with something to sell, but as independent auditors: people whose only product is a conclusion they can stand behind.
That independence has shaped every decision since. We do not build, sell, or operate AI systems. We assess them, against defensible methods and professional assurance standards, so that regulators, boards, insurers, and the public can rely on what we find.
The field has grown up around us, and we have helped build it. But the reason we exist has not changed: trust in AI should be earned, not claimed, and someone independent has to tell the difference.
The BABL Way

Lead with integrity
Our value rests entirely on having nothing to gain from the result. We protect our independence, we report what we find, and we do not soften a conclusion to keep a client comfortable. For us, integrity is not a value on a wall; it is the thing we sell.

Lead as a team
AI auditing and assurance is too broad for any one expert. Our work combines technical testing, socio-technical judgment, governance, and assurance discipline, so it is done by a team, reviewed by a team, and stood behind by a team.

Lead through quality
We work to professional assurance standards, including ISAE 3000, and we develop our own criteria where none exist yet. Every engagement passes internal quality review before we put our name to it. If we cannot do it rigorously, we do not do it.
