BABL AI Chief Ethics Officer Attends Conference on Effects of AI on Democracy and Liberalism
BABL AI’s Chief Ethics Officer took part in the 23rd Annual McCain Conference, sponsored by the United States Naval Institute (USNI). Dr. Jovana Davidovic attended the event on April 18–19 at the Jack C. Taylor Conference Center in Annapolis, Maryland. Mrs. Cindy McCain and Michael Bloomberg made the gathering possible through their generous support. The conference honors the legacy of Senator John McCain (USNA Class of 1958). It also provides a platform where academics, military officers, faculty, and Midshipmen discuss pressing ethical issues in military operations.
This year’s theme was”Liberal Democracy – Challenges, Critics, Solutions.” Sessions and keynotes examined the complexities liberal democracies face worldwide. Topics ranged from economic populism to the ethical risks of emerging technologies. Moreover, Dr. Davidovic joined Dr. Cass Sunstein for a technology panel. Together, they explored democracy in the digital age, AI, regulation, and related challenges.
