Shea Brown

Founder & CEO

Shea's research addresses algorithmic auditing and bias in machine learning, and he serves on several IEEE working groups that set standards for algorithmic bias and organizational governance of artificial intelligence. He has a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Minnesota and is currently a faculty member in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Iowa.

Jovana Davidovic

Chief Ethics Officer

Jovana’s research focuses on applied ethics and law, and in particular ethics of algorithms, ethics of war, and international law. She's an Associate Professor in Philosophy at the University of Iowa; with a secondary appointment at the Law School and the Center for Human Rights.

Ali Hasan

Senior Ethics Consultant

Ali's research focuses on epistemology and the ethics of algorithms. He's an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Philosophy at the University of Iowa.

Mitt Regan

Advisor

Mitt Regan's work focuses on international law, national security, international human rights, and legal and military ethics. Mitt is McDevitt Professor of Jurisprudence, Director of the Center on the Legal Profession, and Co-Director on the Center on National Security and the Law at Georgetown University Law Center, as well as Senior Fellow at the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership at the U.S. Naval Academy. Mitt also serves on the AI Ethics Committee for DARPA.

Casandra Rusti

Researcher in Responsible AI

Casandra's research focuses on the identification and remediation of bias in natural language processing (NLP). She holds a Masters of Science Degree in Mathematics from Claremont Graduate University, is in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Computer Science and volunteers with the ForHumanity Contributor group to advance the Independent Audit of AI Systems as a crucial part of the infrastructure of trust for our autonomous systems.

Jeffery Recker

Operating Officer & Data Science

Jeffery is the chief operating officer for BABL and manages the collection and maintenance of testing data for algorithmic auditing. He is also working on a Masters of Computer Science degree from The University of Illinois at Springfield.
