BABL AI is proud to announce that three of its team members—Founder and CEO Dr. Shea Brown, Chief Product Officer Khoa Lam, and AI Ethics Researcher Ayşegül Güzel—will be speaking at the upcoming international virtual conference by Responsible AgeTech, Balancing Innovation & Responsibility: Building Trustworthy AI for Aging, taking place on July 10, 2025.

As artificial intelligence transforms the way we care for aging populations, this free online event will bring together global experts to explore how AI-enabled AgeTech can be designed and deployed in ways that are ethical, transparent, and preserve human dignity. The interdisciplinary conference welcomes voices from across care delivery, technology development, gerontology, sociology, ethics, and AI governance.

Dr. Brown, Lam, and Güzel will each contribute their unique perspectives on how responsible AI principles can be practically applied to the AgeTech sector. Their sessions will focus on critical issues including algorithmic bias in elder care systems, culturally sensitive AI design, and how regulatory frameworks like the EU AI Act and ISO/IEC 42001 can support human-centered technology development.

As Turgut Yüksel, a fellow speaker and founder of Zumbara, noted: “One of the greatest challenges in developing AI for aging populations is resisting the urge to design for rather than with. When systems are built without the lived experiences of older adults, we risk amplifying exclusion. My experience building Zumbara, the world’s largest time bank, taught me that care, reciprocity, and community trust can redefine value. Applied to AgeTech, this ethos helps us prioritize dignity, autonomy, mutual support, and the wisdom age brings. I’m excited to offer a perspective rooted in deep listening, inclusive facilitation, the care economy, and ethical AI design—one that invites older adults as co-creators in shaping technologies that are truly responsible. Responsible AgeTech must begin with respect, and be guided by empathy—not efficiency alone.”

The event spans three sessions tailored to audiences in the Asia-Pacific, Europe-Africa, and Americas regions, ensuring inclusive, timezone-friendly participation. Each regional panel features local thought leaders and offers attendees a chance to compare and contrast strategies, challenges, and innovations in AI-assisted aging across social and economic contexts.

Recordings of all sessions will be made available after the event, providing a valuable resource for organizations, developers, and policymakers working at the intersection of AI and aging care.

This conference offers a vital opportunity to foster global collaboration, spotlight best practices, and elevate the voices of those committed to designing technology that respects and supports the aging experience.
