BABL AI Secures First Place at University of Iowa Innovation Challenge Awards
BABL AI, a company focused on responsible AI compliance, achieved a major milestone in April. Founder and CEO Dr. Shea Brown won first place and a $25,000 prize at the University of Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (Iowa JPEC) Innovation Challenge Awards.
The ceremony took place on April 18 at the Black Box Theater in the Iowa Memorial Union. Moreover, the Iowa City event showcased the region’s strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Iowa JPEC plays a central role in driving entrepreneurial growth at the University of Iowa. For example, it supports students, faculty, staff, and community members as they launch and expand new ventures.
This year, the Innovation Challenge Awards distributed $135,000 across three divisions. As a result, dozens of new businesses gained vital resources to fuel growth. BABL AI captured first place in the faculty, staff, graduate student, and incubator startup division.
In addition, 29 startups earned recognition for their creative ideas. They shared prize funding across the faculty/staff/graduate student/incubator startup division, undergraduate division, and alumni division.
