The European Union’s AI Office has launched a new survey inviting organizations to contribute examples of their AI literacy initiatives to a public “living repository,” part of efforts to support the implementation of Article 4 of the EU AI Act.
The repository, first introduced during the AI Pact webinar in February, currently features over 20 practices submitted by AI Pact signatories. It is intended to promote learning and exchange among those developing and deploying AI systems, particularly around the literacy obligations outlined in Article 4, which came into force with the Act’s application.
The newly launched survey is open to all organizations—not just AI Pact members—and aims to gather a broader and more diverse set of AI literacy practices. Each submission will be evaluated by the AI Office to ensure it meets minimum standards of transparency and reliability before being added to the repository.
While inclusion in the repository does not imply legal compliance with Article 4 or any endorsement from the Commission, the initiative is meant to spotlight strategies that may help companies navigate AI governance and public education challenges. The repository categorizes entries based on their implementation status—planned, partially rolled out, or fully implemented.
“The goal is to create a shared space where providers and deployers of AI can learn from each other’s approaches to AI literacy,” said a spokesperson for the AI Office. A dedicated website to host the repository and related resources is currently under development.
The AI Office emphasized that replicating these practices does not guarantee regulatory compliance, and the AI Pact remains a voluntary, non-binding commitment. Still, the initiative reflects the EU’s broader push to foster responsible and informed AI development across the continent.
