The European Commission has launched two new tools designed to help businesses, public authorities, and citizens navigate the EU AI Act, which came into force in August 2024. The AI Act Service Desk and the AI Act Single Information Platform, unveiled on October 8, aim to provide practical support and legal clarity as the regulation gradually takes effect through August 2027.
The Single Information Platform will serve as a central hub for all matters related to the AI Act. It provides access to official texts, Member State resources, and tailored guidance to help organizations understand their obligations under the new rules. The platform also includes interactive tools such as a Compliance Checker, which allows stakeholders to assess whether they fall under the Act’s requirements and what steps they must take to comply, and an AI Act Explorer for easy navigation of the legislation’s chapters, annexes, and recitals.
An online form linked to the platform connects users directly to the Service Desk, where a team of experts works in coordination with the European AI Office to answer questions and provide tailored support.
The Commission emphasized that these tools are central to ensuring a “smooth and effective roll-out” of the AI Act, which establishes harmonized rules for safe, trustworthy, and innovation-friendly AI across the EU. The Act not only addresses risks to health, safety, and fundamental rights but also aims to boost European competitiveness in the global AI race by fostering innovation and uptake.
The launch marks a key step in preparing the EU’s single market for full compliance, with the Commission pledging continued support for stakeholders during the transition period.
