Brazil and China have signed a series of high-level cooperation agreements aimed at deepening bilateral ties in infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), and industrial development. The signing took place on Friday, July 5 in Brazil, with high-level officials from both countries present to witness the signing event.
Liu Sushe, Deputy Director of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), signed the documents alongside heads of relevant Brazilian agencies. The new agreements mark the second phase of a strategic partnership designed to align China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Brazil’s Accelerated Growth Plan, New Industrial Plan, Ecological Transformation Plan, and South American Integration Route Plan.
The cooperation framework is expected to strengthen joint efforts in key sectors such as infrastructure, medicine, and clean energy. The two countries will also coordinate closely on projects supporting sustainable development and regional integration.
In a separate memorandum, China and Brazil agreed to establish a China-Brazil Artificial Intelligence Application Cooperation Center. The initiative, signed between the NDRC and Brazil’s Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, will focus on foundational AI research, open-source development, industrial innovation, and AI workforce training.
The center aims to enhance collaboration on AI applications by providing shared resources and fostering talent exchange programs. Officials from both sides emphasized the importance of building a strong AI ecosystem to support long-term technological advancement.
The newly signed agreements reflect an evolving strategic partnership between China and Brazil, positioning the two nations as key players in global infrastructure investment and emerging AI technology cooperation. A full implementation plan for the initiatives is expected to be released later this year.
