BABL AI is pleased to announce that Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer Jeffery Recker will serve as a guest lecturer at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) in Sweden on May 22, 2025. His lecture, titled “Understanding and Mitigating Algorithmic Bias in AI Systems,” will take place from 10:00 to 12:00 and is part of BTH’s continuing education programming focused on responsible technology.

In this session, Recker will explore the many dimensions of algorithmic bias—how it arises, the ways it disproportionately impacts marginalized communities, and what can be done to address it. The lecture will cover common forms of bias such as gender, racial, age, and representation bias, as well as emerging mitigation strategies like explainability, diverse data sampling, ongoing risk assessments, and third-party audits.

Recker’s talk is grounded in BABL AI’s real-world auditing work and draws from global regulatory frameworks including the EU AI Act. He will also share insights from BABL AI’s education and assurance programs, which are designed to help organizations proactively govern AI systems with ethics, transparency, and legal compliance in mind.

With a background spanning economics, engineering, sustainability, and performing arts, Recker brings a multidimensional perspective to AI governance. At BABL AI, he leads business operations and strategy while advocating for broader awareness of algorithmic harms and their societal impacts.
