Shea Brown, Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Shea is a leading expert and thinker on responsible AI. His research addresses algorithmic auditing and bias in machine learning, and he serves on several IEEE working groups that set standards for algorithmic bias and organizational governance of artificial intelligence. He has a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Minnesota and is currently a faculty member in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Iowa.
Jovana Davidovic, Chief Ethics Officer
Jovana has helped clients improve their ethical systems and processes for over a decade. Her research focuses on applied ethics and law, and in particular ethics of algorithms, ethics of war, and international law. She's an Associate Professor in Philosophy at the University of Iowa; with a secondary appointment at the Law School and the Center for Human Rights.
Benjamin Lange, Chief Operating Officer
Ben brings extensive experience working with FTSE 100, Fortune 500, and DAX30 companies across various sectors (finance, technology, pharmaceutical, law, non-profit) in order to help them build ethical capabilities in organizational ethics and responsible AI. He is a Research Fellow in Ethics at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Oxford. His research focuses on organizational ethics and the ethics of technology.
Jeffery Recker, Chief Financial Officer
Jeffery brings over ten years of management experience and over fifteen years of sales experience to BABL. He has done research on tech ethics, bias within artificial intelligence algorithms, and data science. He has a BBA in Economics from the University of Iowa and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability at Blekinge Tekniska Högskola.
Ali Hasan, Head of Research & Development
Ali’s research focuses on epistemology (theories of knowledge and rationality), ethics, and issues lying at their intersection. His research in applied ethics focuses on issues in technology, especially ethics of AI and algorithms, and the spread of misinformation. He’s an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Philosophy at the University of Iowa, where he regularly teaches courses in ethics and epistemology, and helped develop a Graduate Certificate in Ethics that offers specializations in AI ethics, military ethics, medical ethics, human rights, and more.
Mitt Regan, Senior Advisor
Mitt’s work focuses on international law, national security, international human rights, and legal and military ethics. Mitt is McDevitt Professor of Jurisprudence, Director of the Center on the Legal Profession, and Co-Director on the Center on National Security and the Law at Georgetown University Law Center, as well as Senior Fellow at the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership at the U.S. Naval Academy. Mitt also serves on the Institute for Defense Analyses committee that is advisory to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) on incorporating assessment of legal, moral, and ethical considerations into research projects for the agency.
