The European Commission has launched a call for tender to create an AI Act Service Desk, a new initiative designed to support the smooth implementation of the EU AI Act. The Service Desk is expected to serve as an information hub, offering clear, accessible guidance on the application of the EU AI Act and providing tailored answers to stakeholder inquiries.

The Service Desk will feature the European Commission’s Single Information Platform, offering online tools to help businesses and other entities determine if they are subject to legal obligations and how to comply. Stakeholders will also be able to submit specific questions to the AI Office through this platform.

The call for tender, open until May 19, 2025, seeks to establish an external team that will work closely with the AI Office to manage queries. According to the Commission, the Service Desk will play a critical role in enhancing public trust in AI technology while providing legal certainty for investors and entrepreneurs across Europe.

The EU AI Act, which progressively comes into effect until August 2, 2027, aims to regulate AI systems based on their risk levels, establishing clear rules for safe and trustworthy AI deployment. The Service Desk is scheduled to launch in summer 2025 and may extend operations through 2028 if necessary.

This initiative is part of the Commission’s broader AI Continent Action Plan, announced on April 9, 2025, which outlines Europe’s ambition to lead in trustworthy and human-centric AI development.

The European Commission emphasized that responses from the Service Desk would be available in all EU languages, ensuring wide accessibility and support for diverse stakeholders navigating the eu AI Act’s complex requirements.
