Mississippi has signed a landmark memorandum of understanding (MOU) with technology giant NVIDIA, aiming to advance artificial intelligence (AI) education, innovation, and workforce development across the state.
Governor Tate Reeves announced the agreement as a “monumental step” toward securing Mississippi’s role in the AI-driven economy. “We are creating a pathway to dynamic careers in AI and cybersecurity for Mississippians,” Reeves said. “AI is here now, and it is here to stay.”
The partnership focuses on integrating cutting-edge AI curricula into community colleges, universities, and technical schools through collaboration with the Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network (MAIN). Students will gain hands-on training in AI, machine learning, and data science, supported by certification pathways and resources from the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute.
“Together, we will enhance economic growth through an AI-skilled workforce,” said Louis Stewart, NVIDIA’s Head of Strategic Initiatives. “This effort positions Mississippi as a hub for AI-driven transformation.”
The initiative prioritizes access for underserved and rural communities, and includes educator training and career pathways to ensure inclusive workforce development. AI applications will be integrated into core industries such as healthcare, agriculture, defense, and energy to drive statewide productivity and sustainability.
The MOU also outlines joint research efforts between MAIN and industry leaders, while promoting broader engagement through outreach to small businesses and community organizations.
